Kforce's client in Draper, UT is seeking a Principal Linux Engineer to take full ownership of their enterprise Linux environment across on-premises and cloud infrastructure. Summary: Working alongside other principal-level engineers, you will be the most senior Linux specialist on the team. This is a hands-on role focused on standardizing, automating, and securing the Linux fleet. Architecture experience is a plus, but this is not an architecture or leadership role - it's about solving problems, improving infrastructure, and getting things done. The current Linux environment is inconsistent and lacks automation-you'll lead the charge in bringing order, security, and scalability. As a Principal Linux Engineer, you'll manage 50+ servers, supporting both on-prem and cloud (Azure) workloads. You will be the Linux expert on the principal engineering team, working alongside junior Linux admins and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders. Responsibilities: * Execute Linux Fleet Standardization: Build consistent, secure, and scalable server configurations across all environments * Implement Security & Patch Controls: Own vulnerability management, patching processes, and enforcement of security best practices using tools like Tanium, Tenable, and Statlite * Drive Automation: Automate provisioning, patching, and system updates using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Bash scripting * Support Hybrid Infrastructure: Operate in both on-prem and Azure environments * Work Cross-Functionally: Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams while also mentoring and supporting junior Linux administrators * Build Documentation: Create and maintain detailed process and configuration documentation to support long-term sustainability
