Job Summary:

The Hardware Development Engineer will be part of a team responsible for supporting the hardware design of Energy and Transportation Solutions' hardware products and ensuring product specifications are maintained throughout the product lifecycle. This role will analyze, qualify, document, and test design changes on released products. This role will work with other engineers to define component placement and routing. The Hardware Development Engineer reviews and evaluates designs for compliance with system design and development guidelines and standards, providing tangible feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Identifying and evaluating alternative components for cost reduction, end-of-life substitution, product quality improvement, and/or increased manufacturability. Reviewing and verifying design and life cycle component changes for impact on function, performance, and regulatory requirements. Presenting design proposals to local and US-based teams and participating in design reviews. Working with layout guides to build prototypes of design change proposals. Performing electrical and functional tests on prototypes. Collaborating with worldwide teams in the areas of supply chain, manufacturing engineering, component vendors and suppliers, and quality engineers to maintain and improve the quality of existing products. Running and understanding design change implications for agency certifications. Developing a qualification test plan for approval of any alternate sources; conducts component-level testing and maintains test records of all qualification results (Pass/Fail)

For This Role, You Will Need:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or any equivalent field Minimum 5 years of related work experience in Hardware Engineering or Component Engineering, including: Analog and digital circuit design Embedded microprocessor & FPGA design Understanding of signal integrity for high-speed design On-board power supply design (voltage conversion) Familiarity with PCB design and layout techniques, component placement, and signal routing Proven strong communication skills with the ability to relay technical information in English (verbal, written, and interpersonal) to exchange information on product architectures and design proposals with the US-based team Analytical ability to resolve and develop solutions to moderately sophisticated problems
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
Understanding of electrical safety standards PCB CAD experience with OrCAD or Altium is a plus. Experience of working with people in multiple countries and time zones, exchanging information.
