Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems presents an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Systems Architect – MBSE Modeler (25-333) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This role, located in Huntsville, AL, is crucial in supporting the U.S. President, Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Relocation assistance is not provided for this position, and this role is on-site with no remote options.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key part of the Missile Defense System. It is an essential operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control designated networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC provides a layered missile defense capability that offers an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a vital component of all ground and flight tests, which verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of the missile defense system.

This position is for an architecture model developer for the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) System. The selected candidate will be responsible for constructing and translating paper architecture products into digital models, delivering model artifacts, and working with both internal C2MBC and external MDA stakeholders within an MBSE modeling environment to ensure accurate system representations and behaviors.

Essential Functions:

Support the development of architecture modelsPerform model configuration managementBe a focal point for integration with other modeling teams/environments external to C2BMC (e.g., Models provided/developed by other missile defense partner organizations)An experienced modeler will mentor junior systems engineering team members to enhance skills in the departmentWork will be performed under the supervision of the Digital Engineering Team (DET) Lead and DET Architecture Model LeadWill require interfacing with other technical leads, product owners, C2BMC management, and government customers to ensure high-quality products are generated on time and within the resources availableWorking knowledge of Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements (DOORS) for requirement management and experience linking requirements to the architecture modelReviewing the content and details of technical productsActing as a technical interface to MDA working level counterparts on an as-required basisBe actively involved in the efforts associated with Agile development, including iteration planning and status updatesMust have a minimum of 4 years' experience building digital architecture modelsProven experience in developing and adjusting all viewpoints within the DoDAF 2.0 modeling framework

A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM fields such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related discipline with 1 year of relevant work experienceApplicants must hold a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to startMust have experience developing architecture models:Developing model artifacts aligned with SysMOD and OOSEM methodologiesCreating models using the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF 2.0) within the CAMEO development environmentPossessing a working knowledge of MBSE standards to guide model developmentDelivering data products from a modeling platform using tools like:CollaboratorVTL scriptsWebifyTom Sawyer, and other similar toolsMust demonstrate a working knowledge of product development within a secure environment, under the Security Classification Guideline (SCG)Must have expertise in linking architecture models with DOORS-managed requirementsMust have a solid understanding of general systems engineering practices and tools, such as:Agile using Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint

Preferred Qualifications:

A master’s degree in Systems Engineering, along with 3 years of experience, is highly preferredCertification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) CertificationCertification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)Custom plug-ins and other modeling tool customizations are desiredPrefer experience with CAMEO development environment using the DoDAF 2.0 modeling frameworkExperience integrating Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements (DOORs) and CAMEO via TWC Datahub is highly desiredKnowledge or ability to administer these is preferred

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Primary Level Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
