EMPLOYER: Charter Communications, Inc.
TITLE: Principal Engineer I
DUTIES: Perform network engineering activities to maintain and enhance Charter’s telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software, and electrical systems. Work as part of a team responsible for the implementation of routing, switching, and optical deployments to the network, device standup, and decommissioning. Partner closely with technical operations staff on network design and configuration of Charter’s IP network using advanced technical and design skills. Collaborate across numerous verticals and with other design teams to establish unity and advise team leaders. Develop and implement network enhancements and recommend improvements. Review and provide feedback on documentation of technical standards. Coordinate with other verticals to understand requirements, prerequisites, customer impact, and project prioritization for the business. Mentor junior staff and support junior engineers for successful completion of projects. Write and implement Methods of Procedure (MOPs) during maintenance window. Coordinate with vertical partners per agreed upon schedule to implement change requests to make changes on production network. Troubleshoot issues that arise during implementation of a CRQ. Use in-house tools, as well as vendor tools to monitor the status of the overall network. Configure routers and switches to enable edge devices that services high speed and video products to customers. Participate in on-call rotation to support escalations to the team.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field. 5 years of experience in the following: utilizing IP Networking, including IPv4 Networking and IPv6 Networking; with network routing protocols, including OSPF, BGP, ISIS, and PIM; with network switching protocols, including STP, SVI, VLAN, IRB, and BVI; utilizing multiple vendor OS, including iOS, iOS-XR, JUNOS, or SR OS; utilizing ticketing and network applications, including Jira, Aletheia, WAE, CA Performance Center, Netbrain, or SharePoint; and utilizing Microsoft Software Suite, including use of Excel and Visio.
A hybrid (in office and remote work) arrangement is available
SALARY: $161,158 - $ 196, 460 per year
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40+ hours/week)

The base pay for this position generally is between $161,158.00 and $196,460.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
