Principal Engineer
**About this role:** Wells Fargo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced **Principal Engineer** to focus on modern microservices architecture and lead the development and implementation of the Enterprise Pipeline within our Chief Development Office (CDO). You will **drive innovation, efficiency, and transformative changes by implementing best design practices for modern architecture in a large-scale enterprise environment.** In this **hands-on development** role, you will build quick proof of concepts, design architecture, integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities, and decompose large initiatives into iterative chunks for a speedy delivery and ensure the design principles are met across a large team building microservices. **In this role, you will:** + Design, code and develop proof-of-concepts, skunk-works projects quickly to prove out feasibility + Decompose large initiatives into smaller iterative deliverables keeping in mind the speed to market + Lead the microservices design and architecture for a large set of microservices and ensure consistent and standardized principles are implemented + Identify potential for inner sourcing which allows for scalability and faster delivery + Be responsible for implementing non-functional requirements such as observability, monitoring, scalability and stability across the microservices + Interpret, develop, and ensure security, stability, and scalability within enterprise pipeline applications, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk + Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization + Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership + Collaborate and consult with the Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices + Act as a subject matter expert in AI technologies and provide strategic insights and leadership within the team **Required Qualifications:** + 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education + 5+ years of experience in designing, building, and delivering cloud-native, micro-services-oriented solutions at an enterprise scale for large financial services + 3+ years of experience researching new technologies, performing proof-of-concepts, and recommending solutions + 7+ years of experience in Core Java including REST API, Spring Boot, data structures, event driven framework, multi-threading and exception handling + 5+ years of experience with Object based databases, such as MongoDB, including writing efficient and complex queries and optimizing database performance + A BS/BA degree or higher in Computer Science or related course of study **Desired Qualifications:** + Modernization experience with AI skills + Work experience with Capital Markets/Banking/Financial Services + Strong understanding and working knowledge of Automated Testing across all layers + Strong comprehension within the network, compute, storage and database domains + Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitHub Copilot, Harness CD, Artifactory, and Apigee integration + Experience with Private Cloud Kubernetes such as OpenShift Container Platform + Experience building real-time streaming data pipelines and applications using Kafka, Messaging Queue (MQ), or Solace + Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills + Relevant industry certifications **Job Expectations:** + Willingness to work on-site at stated location on the job opening + This position offers a hybrid work schedule​ + This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship​ **Locations:** + 2600 South Price Rd - Chandler, Arizona 85286 + 300 South Brevard St - Charlotte, North Carolina 28202 + 194 Wood Ave S - Iselin, New Jersey 08830 + 1301 Solana Blvd - Westlake, Texas 76262 **Pay Range:** + New Jersey - Iselin Pay Range: $191,000 - $305,000 Annual **Pay Range** Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position.
