Principal Electrical Engineer - EXPAT

KBR is providing Project Management Services encompassing Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning phase execution supporting KBR’s client Sonangol’s multi-billion-dollar grass roots Lobito Refinery Project in Angola, Africa. 

KBR is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to assist in leading an engineering support team on the Sonangol project. The position will be focused on the cogeneration power island for the refinery. 

This position will mobilize to Tianjin, China to facilitate project engineering management in accordance with industry and project standards to ensure corporate requirements are followed.  The candidate will assist in the review of construction activity work schedules to assure efficiency in the execution of tasks & in coordinating the distribution of construction work packages as necessary.

The position will then mobilize to Lobito, Angola to provide engineering support to construction and commissioning activities.

 Responsibilities: 

Provide direction on critical activities requiring knowledge and expertise concerning instrumentationResolve drawing development issues and implementing revisions to record copy construction documentationDevelop construction scopes of work for use in defining work activities for construction contractorsAssist construction contractors with Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of electrical equipment and systems as necessaryProvide design and drafting services for time / budget critical construction work packagesCommunicate with vendors for material quotes and availability of materialsMaintain record of documents and correspondence pertaining to technical design issues throughout the development of the projectWork with with project managers and engineering on design and project logistical issues to assure effective, linear progress of the project

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical EngineeringCertification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer is preferred7+ years of directly related experience, with total experience of 10 years or moreProven ability with experience in an engineering environment developing electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment layoutsHigh level of expertise in combustion and steam turbine driven electric generation systemsPower system studies experience in ETAP and/or SKMProtective relaying experienceSite field experience working in refining and petrochemical facilitiesWorking knowledge of applicable NEC codes and industry standardsProficient with latest versions Microsoft Office softwareProficient written and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills to work with multi-disciplined construction team, and managersAbility to handle multiple tasks at once & meet deadlines and mange priorities and solve problems
