Collins Aerospace Landing Systems is seeking a talented Principal Design Engineer who will support existing certified landing systems across several military programs, as well as supporting new programs and as needs arise. You will communicate and coordinate within the Collins Aerospace global organization with systems design, assembly design, component design, as well as all supporting design analysis
The position is working onsite at our Ft. Worth, TX facilityRelocation Assistance may be providedDirectly contribute to, as well as oversee, design engineering activities in the concept, preliminary and detailed design, verification and validation (V&V), and service support phases of assigned program(s).Oversee and lead design activities in support of existing product as well as the development of new products and product modifications for military and commercial Landing Gear platforms. Typical activities include the following:Engineering change management, reviews, and approvalsWork hand in hand with Project Management and Program Management disciplines to achieve program technical goals and level of support.Mentorship and development of team personnelManage Design Engineering inputs to assigned PMT goals (i.e. EVMS tracking, control tower inputs)Contribute to Supplier Designed Equipment (SDE) specification development for specialized mechanical equipment.Liaise with customer/suppliers for all design related issuesFoster strong customer relationships through accountability, transparency and credibilityProactive approach to problem resolution and root cause corrective action definitionGenerating design documentation such as tolerance stack-ups, interface agreements and proximity sensing analysisPresent designs at internal and external design reviews to ensure the design meets requirements and expectationsDevelop and achieve agreement on Landing Gear interfaces with customers and suppliers. Generate design layouts, developmental and kinematic assemblies within CATIA V5Perform Engineering investigations into failures (both product and process) and participate in Root Cause and Corrective ActionPerform necessary risk reduction relative to design development and qualification testing.Develop Landing Gear and Landing Gear mechanisms from customer specifications considering regulatory requirements and Collins-LS Engineering methodologies.Participate as required in the Product Safety Integrity Team (PSIT) to represent design engineering for safety topics. This includes presenting any observed safety concerns for PSIT disposition.Utilize CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence operating system as a foundation to support tactical and strategic activities.Coordinate Landing Gear design activities both domestically and internationally on assigned programsContribute to improvement of standard work definition for common design activities.Ensure engineering support for non-conforming part engineering analysis and disposition in support of supply chain and production.Provide necessary input to supply chain to allow effective supplier transitions.Participate in establishing project budgets, cost monitoring, effectiveness improvements to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and ensure that business objectives are met.Coordinate and work regularly with engineering, manufacturing, and management in Fort Worth TX, Oakville Ontario, and Poland.Communicate and make technical presentations to senior level leadership.Able to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit.Perform other duties as requiredQualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experienceExperience in landing gear designExperience with 3D modeling software (CATIA V5)Experience working in a lead capacity on a project/programQualifications We Prefer

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
