Principal Content Designer – Design Systems & AI Internal Tooling

Mission & Goals
As a Principal Content Designer– Design Systems & AI internal tooling, your mission will be to drive the content strategy and execution across our design system and AI-powered internal tools.Your goal will be to shape how content standards and patterns, style guides, and components scale across our product ecosystem. At the same time, you'll define how we build and grow the adoption of emerging AI capabilities for internal teams, accelerating greater impact.
Role Objectives
This is a high-impact, cross-functional role for someone who thrives at the intersection of systems thinking, emerging technology, and craft excellence. You’ll partner across design and engineering to push the boundaries of what content design can do.
You will:
Own and evolve the content strategy for our design system, including standards, component content guidelines, and documentation frameworks that scale across product teams
Partner with Design Systems and Engineering to define and maintain clear, inclusive, and reusable content components that support consistency and accessibility across our entire suite of products and brands
Shape content design for internal AI-powered tools: enhancing documentation, knowledge bases, and prompts
Translate complex AI capabilities into transparent, trustworthy experiences for internal users
Drive alignment across content designers and partners, ensuring adoption and governance processes
Mentor and support other content designers, contributing to the maturity of the discipline and creating pathways for others to grow in systems thinking, internal tooling, and AI literacy
Competencies
7+ years of experience in Content Design, with at least 2 years in a principal-level role
Proven track record building or scaling content within design systems
Experience designing internal tools and/or AI-enhanced workflows
Strong systems thinking skills (you know how to scale patterns, not just point solutions)
Deep experience with information architecture, structured content, and content modeling
Deep understanding of accessibility, inclusive language, and responsible AI use
Ability to navigate ambiguity, set a clear vision, and influence across disciplines and levels
A collaborative spirit and openness to feedback: you co-create, listen deeply, and build alignment
Excellent writing skills with a sharp eye for detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt quickly, and drive high-impact work in a dynamic environment
