Position Description:
Provides both DevOps and Cloud automations to enable the seamless cloud adoption journey for applications that are onboarded to cloud through Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) framework. Develops micro and pluggable modules with governance embedders in them for the Infrastructure as code as part of the Continuous Delivery Framework. Designs and develops the Digital Factory setup that will enable cloud onboarding for applications, including both platform, infrastructure, and application setup.
Primary Responsibilities:
Creates and provisions cloud platforms to application teams.
Offers access, security, and networking capabilities on cloud for application teams.
Manages the governance and compliance of cloud platforms.
Provides consulting and support for onboarding applications to the cloud and participates in architecture design and review.
Drives the FinOps Cloud Cost Optimization for multiple applications across the business unit.
Develops pipeline and infrastructure as a code capability for application teams to enable seamless cloud adoption.
Implements security hardening in cloud platforms to ensure that applications are secured though they are hosted in public cloud platform.
Enables logging and telemetry capabilities to allow auto discovery and auto healing of applications on cloud. Advises senior management on technical strategy.
Mentors junior team members.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Cloud Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing and managing the cloud operations platform and automation modules for infrastructure as code.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Cloud Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing and managing the cloud operations platform and automation modules for infrastructure as code.

Demonstrated expertise (“DE”) designing and developing continuous delivery automation framework for deploying Cloud-based secure solutions using Amazon Cloud Computing Services – S3, EBS, RDS, EC2, SQS, Security Groups, Firewalls, IAM roles Elastic Cache Clusters -- through reusable modules and plugins developed using terraform and python along with incorporating enterprise security guardrails and standards, with observability enablement.
DE designing and developing efficient and scalable managed Cloud Ops platform for corporate technology, data architecture, Enterprise Cyber Security and data governance applications running on AWS platform, using Amazon S3, EBS, RDS, EC2, and SQS services; enabling observability and governance of Cloud workloads using DivvyCloud, CloudWatch, and Datadog; and automating the provisioning and performing operational maintenance of Cloud infrastructure for Alation and Collibra data governance and data cataloguing platforms.
DE collaborating with architecture teams and stakeholders on application migration and onboarding strategies to AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes; collaborating with enterprise Cloud teams, and architecture and product teams to enable the migration of on-premise Java, API, and Web applications to Cloud by designing and developing self-service Infrastructure as Code (GitOps) capabilities, using Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm, Docker, GIT, and Jenkins; reviewing operational readiness checklists for applications migrating from production EKS; and coordinating with developers on standardized production best practices and processes.
DE designing and developing reusable Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline templates for deploying application through orchestration using JenkinsCore, maintaining source code projects and repositories in Github according to internal corporate security policies and standards; automating the Build and Release process for Java applications, using Maven, SonarQube, and Artifactory; automating provisioning and administration tasks using Terraform, Cloudformation, Shell Scripting, Python; and enabling observability through Datadog, load balancing using Amazon Elastic Load Balancer and implementing SSL certificates (renewals and imports) using Venafi.
