Job Summary:
This position reports directly to the Vice President, Total Rewards, and is responsible for design, administration, vendor management, compliance, process improvement, employee engagement and communications with respect to Mercury’s health and welfare benefit programs. The Principal Health & Welfare Benefits also provides periodic support for the Company’s retirement plans and programs, as well as the Company’s employee stock purchase plan, in coordination with other members of the Total Rewards team.
Job Responsibilities:
Participate in the creation of the design, implementation, administration and communication of health and welfare benefit programs that are valued and understood by our employees. Provide comprehensive support to our employees as a subject matter expert with respect to their health and welfare needs, including individual resolution of individual or collective employee benefit issues, vendor engagement on employees’ behalf, and partnership with the Company’s Workforce Solutions team on guidance and procedures to address routine employee inquiries. Lead employee benefits projects, including open enrollment, vendor RFPs and transitions, plan design changes, system updates and process improvement efforts with internal and external partners. Support the leave of absence process to streamline administration between Total Rewards, the external leave management administrator and HR Business Partner team members. Optimize our HRIS system configuration and maintenance procedures to provide an excellent employee experience consistent with plan requirements. Automate and audit employee benefit processes, including support for vendor file feeds, interpreting HR policies, and providing practical employee benefits advice. Lead our wellness program, fostering a corporate culture of physical and mental well-being, as well as empowering employees to become better healthcare consumers. Support health and welfare plan benefit reviews and integrations in connection with mergers and acquisition activities, including transition issues related to legacy benefit plans. Provide periodic support on an as-needed basis to other members of the Total Rewards team, particularly with respect to the Company’s retirement plans and programs, as well as the Company’s employee stock purchase plan. Coordinate regulatory filings and disclosures with support from outside vendors, including Form 5500s and Summary Annual Reports.Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Typically requires a minimum of eight years of direct experience working with employee health and welfare benefits. A deep understanding of federal and state laws, rules and regulations applicable to employee benefit plans. Proven experience with RFPs and annual renewals. Strong knowledge of the interplay between HRIS systems and employee benefits, including payroll, employee benefits modules and vendor sites. The ability to work in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment juggling multiple priorities. A sense of urgency and a strong customer-service approach to our business and function leaders, as well as to our employees. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Executive presence and ability to run webinars to employee population.Preferred Qualifications:
Aerospace, defense or manufacturing experience CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) or equivalent.
