We steward precious resources by finding more sustainable solutions. **Job Summary** The Principal, Client Services, NY is responsible for expanding a sustainable practice consisting of planning and design for transportation infrastructure and facilities. This includes providing local leadership in Upstate NY, business development and strategic marketing, client relationship management, project delivery, and recruitment and retention of key staff. The successful individual may function in a pure leadership, business development and client relationship role and also senior project management / seller-doer capacity as the practice matures. The successful candidate will be very familiar with the area markets, be an aggressive starter with well-established contacts, and have demonstrated success in a relevant client development enterprise. We are looking for a strong leader to deliver opportunities and results to enable the greening of our core practice areas in the region. **Responsibilities & Qualifications** **Reporting and Accountability:** The Principal, Client Services, NY will focus on growth strategies and initiatives, as well as Key Client Account Management for specific clients in the area and partner with and support other sectors with key account development and capture strategies. The Principal, Client Services, NY is a member of the Roads + Highways Leadership Team and reports to the Roads + Highways (R+H) Sector Manager NY/NE with a dotted Line to the R+H Sector Leader and the NYC Metro Executive. The role partners closely with the broader Transportation sector leadership team and the Sectors within the area. **Business Development / Marketing** + Research and identify market growth opportunities in the area. + Develop implement, monitor and update marketing/business development plans with short and long-range goals. + Develop and implement solution-oriented multi-sector coordinated sales approaches detailed to customer market and requirements, including NYSDOT and clients in the Upstate NY area. + Work with the Sector Leaders, Sector Managers, Growth Leaders and Project Managers to develop strategies for cultivating prospects and obtaining work. + Engage with Sector Leaders and Area Manager in making go/no-go decisions on project pursuits. + Identify competitors’ strategies and pricing trends and provide direction on work winning and next steps. + Manage pursuits including teaming, proposal writing and preparation of formal interview presentations. + Manage the business development process; qualify upcoming projects fitting for the market. + Lead marketing strategy planning meetings. + Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with clients and prospects that result in new business opportunities. + Responsible for assuring quality work products are consistently delivered to all strategic clients. + Champion and drive business development efforts in the marketplace to achieve agreed upon growth goals. Measures/KPIs: + Sales, revenue, and margin performance on complex projects and strategic initiatives for TYLin within the area. + Unique Sales growth ($2-5m for 2025/2026) to meet or exceed strategic targets for profitable growth (YoY growth) in the Sectors. + Expansion of the Sectors portfolios in specific Areas. + Win rate with TYLin key/target clients. + Key client satisfaction. **Project Delivery** + Serve as Project Principal or Project Manager on major pursuits. + Perform regular operational review of on-going projects. + Prepare/approve Quality Assurance Plans for projects. + Prepare staffing plans and workload projections. **Connecting / Building Talent** + In conjunction with the R+H Leadership Team, utilizing key partners in Shared services including Talent Attraction Leaders and HR Business Partners, identifies strategic hires and talent development needs, by defining strategic workforce gaps, and participates in the attraction and acquisition of key hires. + Collaborates with, influences, guides, and coaches the development and cultivation of a best-in-class team of client account managers, technical experts and project managers and collectively support the objectives of the strategic plan. + Help facilitate mobilization and assignment of senior resources, project managers, and technical specialists to opportunities and projects for key clients. + Collaborates with the marketing team, and the R+H Leadership Team in developing external and internal thought leadership on strategic initiatives in the area. **QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):** + Requires Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, planning or related field (registration preferred but not required). + Must have strong Business Development/Marketing experience with a proven track record. + The ideal candidate will have approximately 15 years of increasingly responsible experience in a similar function for an A/E/C firm or in an agency leadership position. + Successful candidate will have a history of developing and maintaining effective business relationships with clients and peers. + Demonstrated success in growing a group, division or company desired. + Excellent verbal and written and presentation skills are required. **Additional Information** \#LI-Hybrid **TYLin** offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
