\r\nTo provide discipline specific, specialist engineering and project management services to my client and its clients, while pursuing the broader clients business goals, values and vision.
\r\nAREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY.
\r\nBusiness Development and Support
\r\n\r\nBuild relationships with key clients to secure new business.\r\nMarket the transport engineering capability for the Cape Town location.\r\nProvide specialist technical advice to clients.\r\n\r\nInternal Project Management, Health and Safety, Administration and Quality Management Procedures
\r\n\r\nComply with Company procedures and processes in terms of project registration and risk analysis.\r\nComply with Quality procedures by ensuring auditable trail of actions during full life cycle of project delivery process all in accordance with company Quality Management Procedures.\r\nComply with and embrace Health and Safety requirements in the workplace as well as on construction sites.\r\n\r\nProject Delivery
\r\n\r\nProvide specialist geometric direction, advice, and control on transport (roads) projects. Key performance and knowledge areas include, Geometric Road Design (rural roads, interchanges, intersections and roundabouts), Transport Planning, Traffic Flow Theory, Intelligent Transport Systems, Road Safety Engineering, Road Safety Audits, Transport Economics, Transport Planning Methodologies, Transport System Capacities, Public Transport Systems, Non-Motorized Transport, Contract Documentation and Administration of Civil Engineering Contracts, and Project Management.\r\n\r\nPrepare and evaluate specialist geometric designs, prepare technical reports, and cost estimates and liaise with other professionals, both internally and externally.\r\nDevelop and implement discipline specific technical practices, specifications and procedures.\r\nFacilitate and assist with the tender and adjudication process leading up to contractor appointment and site hand over.\r\nPlan, coordinate and manage the design, procurement and construction of discipline specific projects.\r\nResponsible for the commercial and technical execution and delivery of medium and large scale projects. Cooperate with project teams to achieve strategic objectives.\r\nDevelop and promote cost reduction and productivity enhancing initiatives.\r\nEnsure effective resource management on projects.\r\nAssist with technical design reviews when requested on projects for the Transport Engineering Department.\r\nContribute to the drafting of tenders and assist with multi-disciplinary tender.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTraining and Mentoring
\r\n\r\nParticipate in continuous professional development training in order to maintain professional registration.\r\nMentor, coach, train and provide technical leadership to team members and candidate Engineers/Technologists/Technicians.\r\n\r\nLeadership and Relations
\r\n\r\nBuild and maintain good working relations with all stakeholders, both internal and external to the company.\r\nProvide supervisory and technical leadership on projects.\r\nManage project teams to control risks and to achieve targets on time and within budget.\r\nAssist with the compilation and review of discipline specific technical standards, templates and technologies.\r\n\r\n\r\n
EDUCATION, LANGUAGE & QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n\r\nEng or B.Tech degree and relevant M.Eng.\r\nProfessional Registration with ECSA.\r\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.\r\nConversant with Civil 3D, Bill, MS Word & MS Excel.\r\nKnowledge of Civil Designer, Autoturn, Trasoft, MS Projects, AutoCad and HDM-4 will be an advantage.\r\n\r\nESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
\r\n\r\nKey experience includes the geometric design of urban- and rural roads and infrastructure, interchanges.\r\nIntersections, traffic calming measures, road safety improvements and modern roundabout design, railway alignments, non-motorised transport (NMT) planning and implementation, universal access design, road signs and markings, transportation economic evaluations, highway capacity analysis, road safety audits, (GCC2010, COLTO & SANS1200) contract documentation and -administration; and Project Management.\r\nSANRAL and Western Cape Government roads experience.\r\nProject management and leadership skills.\r\nA specialist knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline, and the basic requirements of other disciplines.\r\n
