Job DescriptionVeolia Water Tech is seeking a dynamic Pretreatment Lab Operator to join our team in Odessa! This Lab Technician is responsible for performing laboratory analysis and making operational adjustments and recommendations (chemical dosing) in the field based on laboratory analysis data. This role directly supports operations and the overall compliance and treatment process at an industrial wastewater treatment facility.

Knowledge of basic chemistry and laboratory techniques and equipment: pipettes, burettes, graduates, beakers and flasks, other basic lab equipmentKnowledge of basic computer skillsSkilled in the use of basic math and laboratory calculationsAbility to properly use: a balance, a thermometer, hand tools (screwdriver, wrenches, pliers, etc.), drying ovens, tweezers and tongs, other lab equipment required by testing (as trained) and a pipette bulbData interpretation, record keeping reporting and critical decision-making skillsWorking knowledge of UV/VIS Spectrophotometers, HPLC Instrumentation, and pH meters, inline analyzers, and gravimetric assaysAbility to properly perform test methods assignedAbility to read and follow methods for test procedures, reports, and QCAbility to read and implement instrument/equipment manualsAbility to read, comprehend, and implement test methodsAbility to read, write, and communicate orally in English in a fluent mannerProficient in Google Suite or related softwareEducation & Experience
Required:
High School diploma or equivalentPass a TCEQ Class D Wastewater Operators exam within 6 months of employmentPreferred:
Forklift license and experience Experience working in wastewater treatmentExperience working in a fast-paced work environment Previous lab experience Laboratory software: LIMS systems, Minitab preferredWorking Conditions
Work is performed primarily indoors (lab environment) but may be required to work outdoors in an industrial environment. May be exposed to release from surrounding complex or laboratory which may include but not be limited to: low level beta particles (Ni 63) radiation source, chemicals, solvents, electrical (instrumentation),fumes and odors, dust, toxic waste and other hazards associated with working in an industrial area.
