Job Description

Program Summary:

The qualifying Operator will participate in an accelerated training program to grow their career in the RRD manufacturing environment that features 4 (four) graduating steps of increasing skill level, responsibility, and pay. This training program may be completed in as few as 18 months or as many as 36 months (with manager approval), depending on the participant’s pace of progress. Upon graduating from the program, the participant will be fully qualified and accountable to assume the duties and receive the compensation of an experienced Operator.

Position Summary

Directs and coordinates crew activities to operate presses in various degrees of size and complexity in order to obtain maximum production according to established quality standards.

Responsibilities:

The successful Operator will learn and perform the following:

Become proficient in print and manufacturing terminologyWork closely with management team to understand and assist with implementing action plans to achieve department objectivesAssume a leadership role in directing crew activities to meet production deadlines safely and efficientlyProduce a quality product that exceeds our customer’s expectations, following the requirements of documented processes as defined in the Quality Management SystemAssist management with supporting and implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives, departmental maintenance activities, training, safety and special projectsAssists with training of new employees and directs all crew activities connected with the operation of the pressAdhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out – tag out rules and eye protection policiesReinforce safety training and safe work practices; participate in safety meetingsComply with company standard operating procedures and policies for equipment operationMaintain a clean work area by properly storing supplies and equipment, removing waste, cleaning tools and eliminating spillsRecognize diversity. Be inclusive and act professionally with all people in the work environmentPerform minor repairs and preventive maintenancePerforms other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.Overtime is a condition of employment

Qualifications

Incoming Knowledge and Skills:

Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceEffectively communicate with all team members while building collaborative relationshipsUnderstanding of the sequence of production operations and workflow operations undertaken within the commercial sheetfed operationsAbility to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram formRecognize, identify, and analyze problem situations, and collaborate with others to generate options and alternative solutionsAbility to operate various hand tools including line gauge, and loupeAbility to perform a variety of calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages, in addition to using a standard rulerDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of chemicals and materials used in production, their interactions, danger signs, and proper disposal methodsPossess strong attention to detail and quality of work productPossess basic computer skills

Physical Job Requirements:

Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 poundsVision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusStand/walk up to 8-12 hrs per day, frequently requiring them to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlAdequate manual dexterity to reach, handle, adjust, and perform various operations

Schedule: 3rd shift M-F 11:30pm – 7:30am

Additional Information

Pay range for this position is $22.00 to $32.00 per hour;

The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location.
