JOB TITLE: Preschool/Pre-Kindergarten Classroom Teacher

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Principal and Preschool Director, the Preschool/Pre-Kinder Classroom Teacher: plans, organizes, presents and evaluates educational programs of meaningful instructions that support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of preschool age students, creates a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth, establishes effective rapport with pupils to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to successfully participate in the total school program in accordance with each pupil’s ability and to meet state standards, establishes professional relationships with parents and other staff members, and adheres to California state child care center licensing regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
A Holy Cross Preschool or Pre-Kindergarten Teacher will:
Instill and support the Philosophy and Mission Statements of Holy Cross School.
Maintain professional, charitable, cooperative and respectful relationships with all members of the Holy Cross community.
Adhere to licensing regulations, and follow all established policies and procedures of the Holy Cross Preschool.
Collaborate with the Director and other teachers to establish and maintain a classroom learning environment that showcases and promotes children’s learning.
Maintain a team-teaching atmosphere for classroom activities to promote educational activities and lessons that support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of preschool children.
Adhere the daily shift schedule from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday including opening and closing.
Submit group attendance daily to the Director or the assigned school personnel.
Prepare lesson plans and submit them to the director on a monthly basis.
Carry out duties in a responsible manner regarding curriculum, co-curricular activities, safety, and other assigned tasks.
Adhere to and manage the general safety protocols of the preschool environment indoor and outdoor.
Promote and foster each child's positive self-esteem and individual development toward their fullest potential in the areas of physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth.
Interact with children through instructional methods to include play, music, arts and crafts, reading, writing, science and physical activities.
Be present for children in their learning.
Assist children with personal care to include toileting, feeding and cleanliness needs in relation to age/stage of development.
Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment that is conducive to learning and safety and assists in daily supervision of classroom management.
Observe and assess children’s progress, and use this information to plan individualized instruction and support.
Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication and collaboration.
Document issues and concerns as needed in the log book and notify the director.
Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and parent-teacher conferences as required.
Possess a growth mindset and seek opportunities for personal and professional growth to enhance teaching practices.
Retain Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
Interpret policy, procedure, and data.
Collaborate with others.
Maintain emotional control under stress.
Prepare for short term activities and yearlong instructional design.
Education & Qualifications:
12+ECE Units Certification
CPR, First Aid Certification
Teaching experience
Other Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing and/or sitting during instruction and/or meetings indoors and/or outside of buildings
Ability to maintain supervision of students without personal break for various lengths of time
Occasional lifting of 25 pounds or more
Work Year Details: 190 to 215 days. Base pay is hourly. Additional compensation provided if the workday is more than 8 hours.
