The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of people…a Tribe living together, farming, hunting and fishing to survive. Much has changed since that time. Today the Sycuan Tribe governs its Reservation, owns and operates a Casino and a Golf Resort, and owns a number of other business ventures in the San Diego Region. Job Purpose: Under the direction of the designated venue Sous Chef, the Prep Cook prepares vegetables, fruits, and proteins by cutting, slicing, chopping and cleaning as set by Food & Beverage/Culinary Management; maintains all food, equipment and kitchens to set health codes and casino standards; maintains positive, team oriented and accommodating attitude toward guests (internal as well as external), fellow team members and management, at all times. Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time) + Provides kitchen with food products. Maintains a safe and sanitary cooking area. + Maintains clean and orderly walk in and storage areas. + Maintains a safe and sanitary kitchen + Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department Job Specifications: Education and Experience: Essential: + County of San Diego Food Handler Card + Cooking experience in a high-volume commercial kitchen Desirable: + High School Diploma or G.E.D. + Culinary degree Skills and Knowledge: Essential: + Working knowledge of cooking temperature guidelines + Ability to safely use knifes + Ability to prepare menu items from recipes + Ability to perform mathematical equations + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs + Ability to stand for up to eight hours at a time + Ability to bend and stoop + Ability to maintain professionalism and composure + Ability to interact effectively with guests and team members + Ability to communicate effectively in the English language + Ability to understand and follow verbal directives and written directions + Ability to accept constructive criticism + Ability to appear for work on time Desirable: + Multi-lingual Supervisory/Managerial Accountability: Direct: None Indirect: None If you enjoy being part of a community dedicated to creating a memorable guest experience, we invite you to explore career opportunities with Sycuan and join our winning team!
