Preconstruction Services – Intern

Responsibilities and Duties:

Coordination Projects: Assist in coordination of projects for mechanical scope, including but not limited to HVAC systems, structural framing and openings for mechanical systems, impact of other trades (e.g. fire protection, electrical, plumbing, structural, architectural elements, etc.), and incorporate specification requirements and submittal data. Participate in coordination meetings.

 

Prefabrication Plans: Assist in creating ductwork fabrication plans including duct and fitting dimensions, lengths, elevations, offsets, transitions, and notes/tags necessary for installation and fabrication. Assist in creating spool piece drawings for industrial piping plans. Details to include pipe cut lengths, material lists, and accessory dimensions.

 

Quality Control: Maintain organized record of outstanding issues, RFI’s, and changes in design. Review plans to minimize errors and omissions prior to issuance to field for construction. Ensure drawings are completed in compliance with construction and fabrication schedules. Notify Preconstruction Manager of any drawings, permit schedules or pricing requirements that arise during process. Maintain accurate as-built drawings as needed on projects for record and submission to owner.

Qualifications:              

Excellent computer skills are essential as the detailed use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, AutoCAD MEP, Revit, SysQue and Navisworks will be a major component of this position. Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at once.

Requirements:

Effective written and verbal communication skills. General Requirements: ability to attend project site meetings as needed. Physical Requirements: ability to visit and evaluate project sites for coordination and construction conflict resolutions. Ability to perform additional physical activities that require considerable use of limbs and appendages such as climbing, lifting, reaching above shoulders, balancing, walking, stooping, and kneeling. Ability to lift, move and handle 80lbs tools or materials.  Ability to climb and work from ladders, aerial lifts, or scaffolding. Ability to work in tight spaces or uneven terrain. Ability to work in environmental conditions that range from working outdoors during all seasons, indoor office environments, and utility plants.
