The Precision Phenotyping Team within the Seed Product Development Group is seeking a Post-Doctoral Candidate who can drive new precision phenotyping science from concept to deployment. This individual must be willing to focus on a recalcitrant issue and persist until a solution is found. Our group develops precision phenotyping solutions aligned with plant breeding challenges, specifically investigating new precision phenotyping technologies related to drones, RGB, multi-spectral, hyperspectral, proximal, LiDAR, robotics, satellites, and any number of other technologies associated with precision phenotyping and digital solutions. The incumbent must creatively adapt new precision phenotyping solutions and generate and execute science plans related to specific phenotyping targets.

What Skills You Need:

PhD in Plant Breeding, Genetics, Agronomy, Phenomics, Engineering, or related fields.Be self-motivated to advance projects and work collaboratively on larger team projects.Be willing to learn and embrace new challenges in the phenotyping space.Communicate well, both verbally and written, including peer-reviewed publications as appropriate.Keep detailed and organized records of experimental protocols and results.Analyze results, troubleshoot technical difficulties, and implement solutions.Adhere to safety requirements.An ability to work both independently and across dynamic teams is critical.Experience with machine learning image processing, statistics, and novel precision phenotyping tools is highly desirable. Experience collecting phenotyping data in the field is also favorable.
