This position exists to ensure adherence to State plans and specifications during the fabrication of prestressed and precast concrete products. Job Duties: Examples of work for this specific vacancy include but are not limited to: + Interprets plans and specification to ensure fabricators compliance. + Fabrication inspection of prestressed concrete bridge girders, box culverts and other precast structures to determine compliance with the governing plan sheet, specifications, and special provisions. + Performs, directs the performance, or monitors the performance of all aspects of standardized and specific materials testing. + Completes Quality Assurance plant monitor activities for plants: Observe fabricator quality control testing of concrete samples, verify plant production, sampling and testing to ensure compliance with procedures and specifications as required by the schedule of materials control. + Inspect and/or sample such materials as reinforcing steel, prestressed cable, concrete aggregate, cement, and various concrete admixtures in accordance with MnDOT Materials Control Schedule or as stated in Special Provision. + Monitors all quality control, certification procedures and products produced by those working on state projects or projects receiving federal or local funds. + Inspect concrete cylinder and aggregate tests. + Perform various testing calculations, calculate QC test results. **Minimum Qualifications** The level of experience to perform this job at the TS level can be achieved with: + Technical Certification in: ACI Grade I and PCI Level I & II. + Four years of experience performing precast structures inspection OR + Three years of recent experience performing precast concrete structures inspection, bridge construction inspection or a combination of both. * NOTE: two (2) years of recent construction field inspection may be substituted in lieu of one year of precast concrete structures inspection or bridge construction inspection experience. + Education Substitution:A two year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four-year degrees:Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience. (In order for education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience you must submit a copy of your transcripts). + Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records. **Additional Requirements** **Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and criminal history check** It is our policy that all candidates submit to a background investigation prior to employment.
