The UCLA Honors Programs unit seeks one lecturer to teach for Fall quarter in Academic Year 2025-26 for an upper division undergraduate seminar as part of the Honors Collegium.
This position includes team-teaching the Honors Collegium 149 seminar, Art and Trauma, which examines how slavery, war, psychiatric institutionalization, and child sexual abuse shaped singular artistic visions. Designed for students in the College Honors program to explore research on memory and trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and how severe trauma impacts the brain. We are specifically seeking a scholar who can provide rich perspectives on the intersection of art, and trauma, with some knowledge and/or training within the fields of psychology. This position will entail team coordination and contribution to the generation of projects, critiques, and grading of student submissions. A key element of the course is a studio component with individual and group projects, providing more tangible insight into process of art and trauma.
