Pre-Sales Application Engineer
Job Description

Agilent is seeking a dynamic and results-driven application engineer to join our liquid chromatography team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales of our liquid chromatography products within the US and Canada by delivering technical expertise and solutions to Agilent customers.  This role requires a strong understanding of the scientific market, excellent sales/communication skills, and a passion for building customer relationships.  In Agilent’s Centers of Excellence, you'll grow your skills and knowledge base while working on custom application solutions.   

 
Agilent Laboratory Solutions Group is looking for an Application Scientist to deliver technical expertise to support our customers and sales teams based on Agilent's products and services. 

 
Principal Responsibilities: 

Work closely with account managers to define customer requirements, demonstrate Agilent solutions, and win qualified opportunities. Assist sales account managers and product specialists to meet or exceed sales quota by providing technical/scientific expertise. Participate in the sales process from deal qualification to deal closure and actively contribute to sales account planning. Collaborate with the sales team in the development of technical sales strategies. Own the deal’s technical closure. Enhance customers’ experience through demonstrations during the sales process in Agilent’s Centers of Excellence or in customer laboratories. Analyze customer requirements and recommend appropriate solutions. Prepare and deliver technical seminars to customers or potential customers and contribute to recognized scientific forums, including written, oral and poster presentations. Act as the customer voice to influence future product/application design that meets customer needs, including writing application briefs to highlight product capabilities.  Evaluate and support management on the ramp to volume strategies for new products before release.  Promote Agilent's products and assist in training the sales force.  Is knowledgeable of competition and able to identify lockout specifications (identify Agilent's competitive advantage over competition).  May also contribute to post-sales activities.  Must consent to participate and meet Agilent-approved customer/vendor credentialing requirements necessary to gain access to customer sites.  Requirements may include, but are not limited to, proof of identification, proof of certification to perform the work required, customer health and safety requirements, etc.  

 

QualificationsBachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or another science discipline.Minimum 4+ years of relevant work experienceExperience with liquid phase separations and solutions is required.Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. Excellent presentation and communication skills, including virtual tools and customer-facing interactions. Proven ability to think creatively and develop solutions for complex challenges.Project management, influential, and interpersonal skills are beneficial.Requires flexibility in working hours and availability for up to 35-50% business travel.

 

 

Additional Details

This job has a full time weekly schedule. It includes the option to work remotely. Applications for this job will be accepted until at least July 30, 2025 or until the job is no longer posted. It is sales incentive eligible. In the US, this position is eligible for choice of company car or reimbursement for personal vehicle usage.

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $135,150.00 - $270,300.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
