Description of Job Tentative Start Date: Desired start date is 09/01/2025 to 12/10/2025 About the Work Unit: Colorado’s mobile public health clinics provide low- and no-cost services to Coloradans of all ages. These include routine vaccines required for school and child care, as well as other recommended vaccines like flu, COVID-19, and mpox. The exact vaccines offered depend on the specific clinic. The Mobile Public Health Clinic Program’s mission is to bridge gaps in access to disease control and public health services, and rapidly respond to emergent issues. Our emphasis is on serving low-income and underserved areas of the state. The MPHC runs vaccination clinics for people with low/disproportionate access to preventative medicine. The team is also ready to respond to outbreaks when appropriate. https://cdphe.colorado.gov/mobilepublichealth Internship Description: Project Title: Mobile Public Health Clinic Nursing Practicum Project Description: This practicum helps nursing students understand the dynamic impact of the Mobile Health Team in creating equity of healthcare for all through the utilization of multiple departments within the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Students earn a better understanding of how departments work together within public health to provide a variety of healthcare services. This is an unpaid, hybrid practicum. Smart Objectives: The student will be able to: + The student shadows The Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response, Community Action and Engagement, and the Coordinators of the Mobile Public Health Clinic team. + The student works with the MPHC team to organize a clinic from start to finish including reaching out to contacts, scheduling, organizing supplies, working with a team at site and reviewing results of the clinic. + The student participates in these clinics with the end goal of understanding impacts of MPHC on vaccinations rates and access. + The project concludes with the student creating a short project where they put forth a question, process, or research topic based on the MPHC operations or outcomes. Deliverables or outcomes: + Students achieve an understanding of state public health systems to improve equity. + Students expand knowledge or practice through a practical research project. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Qualifications: An applicant may meet the minimum qualifications for this practicum in one of two ways: They may qualify through their work experience alone or through a combination of education and work experience. Bachelors or Masters student enrolled in an accredited university seeking a degree program in Public Health, Advanced Nursing , or closely related fields. Applicant must be a Licensed Practical Nurses (LPA) or Registered Nurse (RN). OR A Bachelors or Masters graduate. Recently graduated means the individual should have attended a university and have graduated with a Bachelors or Masters degree i n Public Health, Advanced Nursing or related fields within three calendar years. Applicant must be a Licensed Practical Nurses (LPA) or Registered Nurse (RN). For all applicants, a c urrent, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) must be completed. **A copy of your unofficial (or official) transcript AND image of a current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing is required by the application deadline.
