Don’t miss out on the opportunity to work alongside the world’s best in paediatric healthcare. **Position Description** **About Boomerang Health** Boomerang Health, powered by SickKids, is a multidisciplinary paediatric clinic, independent but wholly owned by The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). SickKids opened Boomerang Health in April 2013, a 10,000 sq. ft. healthcare centre in Vaughan, to provide the York Region community and beyond, with greater access to community-based services for children and adolescents. As people and healthcare professionals, we stand together against racism and oppression which have a huge impact on the health of the many communities we serve. **Position Description** Working collaboratively with the Program Lead for Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), the Practice Lead (PL) is accountable for the professional leadership in the SLP. The PL will provide direction in implementing and managing change and will ensure an environment that supports both a model of collaborative professional practice and the strategic vision of Boomerang Health. The PL will also provide direct patient care. The PL will be involved in the development of programs, mentorship of new staff as well as activities that involve patient care delivery, professional development and quality and risk management. The PL will promote a culture of continuous improvement and will facilitate the generation of innovative ideas for Brain and Mental Health. **Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:** · Provides comprehensive speech and language assessments and interventions to children with a variety of communication needs. · Manages a varied caseload and meets required timelines. · Collaborates with the leadership team on new initiatives, programs and improvements for the clinic. · Participates in the development of processes, guidelines, policies and procedures that support patient care goals within a collaborative practice model. · Participates in the planning and formulation of the clinic's strategic plan and annual goals within the SLP department. · Provides guidance and coaching to staff within the SLP department to promote and maintain consistent standards of practice in compliance with professional legislation and policy. · Works with the Program Lead of SLP in the development of educational strategies to maintain and enhance the clinical practice of staff. · Consults with the Program Lead to discuss and explore new initiatives, programs and overall improvements. · Practices in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of continuous quality improvement and evidence-based practice. · Supports with the mentorship of new staff. · Other duties as required. **Qualifications** **Education/Experience:** · Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, with experience in paediatric assessment/treatment · Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists on Ontario · Minimum three years of experience in their regulated profession. · Knowledge and experience of a clinic setting · Knowledge and experience of training and supervision within an interdisciplinary team structure · An understanding of team-building, organizational, management and program development in a clinical setting **Skills/Abilities:** · Strong proficiency in evidence-based interventions with children, adolescents, caregivers, and families, including experience with group therapy. · Excellent oral and written communication skills. · Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with children, adolescents and families. · Attention to detail, efficient time management and organizational skills required. · Proficient in using virtual technology for telehealth sessions. · Track record of progressive career path, including evidence of engagement in various professional, departmental and/or hospital initiatives. · Demonstrated leadership behaviours and practices, including excellent communication and conflict management skills, strategic vision, critical analysis, highly developed emotional intelligence, and a commitment to family-centred care and interprofessional practice. · Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and to take initiative and leadership when appropriate. · Knowledgeable of current literature and relevant developments in clinical practice. · Ability to promote and provide culturally sensitive and inclusive care to a diverse population of staff, patients and family. · Ability to treat common communication delays/disorders presenting in children and adolescents. · Comfortable with providing individual and group.
