Practical Nursing Program Director (Exempt) -FT, Days, Varies/Rotating
Position: Practical Nursing Program Director, Mercy Southeast Department: School of Nursing & Health Sciences Shift: Full-time (40 Hrs. The Director ensures the program's compliance with accreditation standards, promotes excellence in nursing education, and fosters an environment that supports student success, faculty development, and community engagement. The program director maintains a culture of inclusivity and support with a student-centered learning environment The program director also provides classroom and clinical instruction and functions as a student advisor to students enrolled in the PN program. Job Description: Administers a contemporary nursing education program to ensure student success and faculty advancement. Develops and oversee the PN curriculum, ensuring alignment with accreditation and regulatory standards. Teaches courses within the PN program as needed. Collaborates with the Dean of Nursing to ensure compliance with state, regional, and national nursing education standards. Leads program accreditation efforts, including self-study reports and site visits. Establishes and maintains program policies and procedures in collaboration with institutional leadership. Ensures faculty have the necessary education and expertise, and coordinate their assessments, evaluations, and professional development. Assists with hiring and mentoring new faculty. Develops and organizes course content to ensure consistency across courses and tracks. Conducts program reviews through assessment, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement. Participates in program budget planning, expenditure, and reconciliation. Meets with local advisory boards to ensure the program meets community/employer needs Oversees student recruitment, admission, retention, and progression, and serve as an advisor for student academic success. Establishes and maintain partnerships with clinical sites to ensure high-quality clinical education and compliance with agency requirements. Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Experience: Three years’ experience teaching in an accredited PN academic program. Three years’ full-time experience as a patient care nurse. Experienced in successful program accreditation processes and maintaining accreditation status. Experienced in program administration, curriculum design, evaluation, instruction, and counseling. Experienced in online teaching/learning with extensive use of a Learning Management System (LMS). Licensure: Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state (or eligibility for licensure). Preferred Qualifications: Education: MSN or Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field Other Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Strong leadership and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders. Must be proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
