A new opportunity has arisen for a skilled Power Solutions Business (PSB) Commissioning Engineer to oversee and bring expertise to our team.

As a Power Solutions Business (PSB) Commissioning Engineer in MTU Japan, Osaka, you will play a critical role in leading and executing commissioning activities for our power generation systems. You will be responsible for managing the successful installation, integration, testing, and handover of mtu systems in alignment with project and customer requirements. This position requires strong technical expertise, hands-on commissioning experience, and the ability to manage on-site execution in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Rolls-Royce Power Systems is headquartered in Friedrichshafen in southern Germany and employs around 9,000 people. Key Accountabilities

Plan, lead, and execute commissioning activities for Power Solutions Business (PSB) projects involving power generation systems including diesel and gas generator sets.Manage on-site activities from system installation supervision to final handover, ensuring timely and quality execution.Oversee testing, integration, troubleshooting, and performance verification of complete systems and components.Lead acceptance tests and commissioning validation with customers and their representatives.Act as the primary technical point of contact for internal project teams and customers during the commissioning phase.Prepare, document, and submit all relevant reports such as commissioning protocols, punch lists, acceptance forms, technical investigations, and final site reports.Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards during commissioning works.Contribute to continuous improvement by providing technical feedback on system performance, process gaps, and commissioning documentation.Coordinate closely with cross-functional project, service, engineering, and logistics teams to ensure effective execution and resolution of technical issues.Support resource planning and scheduling activities, ensuring efficient use of manpower and material.

Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering.Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in commissioning and project execution of diesel or gas generator sets or integrated power systems.Strong technical knowledge in power generation systems, control systems, electrical wiring, and mechanical installations.Proven ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring schematics, and layout diagrams.Solid track record in site management, troubleshooting, test protocol execution, and client handling.Familiar with industry standards and local safety regulations relevant to power generation projects.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both verbal and written formats.Proficiency in English is required; Japanese language skills are preferred and would be highly advantageous.Strong sense of initiative, accountability, and ability to work independently in field environments.Willingness and flexibility to travel across Japan and occasionally overseas for project commissioning assignments.
