Main Duties
1. Ensure that all machinery, equipment and systems in the Post Holder's care functions within the specified operational parameters.
2. Overhaul, repair, test and install all electrical equipment associated with diesel generators including re-wires and control panel installations.
3. Ensure materials for works are fully checked for suitability, and are correctly booked in and out of stores (reporting any defects or damage).
4. Produce a quality end produce first time with no re work required.
5. Organise work to minimise lost time, or non productive time.
6. Carry out planned/response maintenance on various control systems, to be fully competent with electrical controls and hold a relevant certificate to cover, be able to understand and apply the skills required with the use of schematic diagrams.
7. Configuring Remote I/O & inverter drives
8. Fault finding electrical control systems, PLC, and hardwired systems.
9. Diagnosing hardware and software issues on the Siemens PLC/SCADA systems
10. Good understanding of software control- how/how often to back up the program, how to securely store the back-up, management of change of the software.
11. Ensure that times sheets are completed accurately (correct job numbers are entered), all overtime is sanctioned and timesheets are submitted on the day required.
12. Respond to emergency call outs as and when required.
13. Carry out any other duties as directed by the management team.
What we are looking forEducation /
Qualifications /
Training
Educated to GCSE or equivalent in English or Maths.
Must hold City & Guilds/NVQ in engineering or equivalent qualifications.Desireable
Holds or has held Authorised Person electrical qualifications.
ATEX/DESEAR/COMPEX trained and qualified.
Hold or working towards an 18th Edition City & Guilds IEE Wiring Regulations qualifications.
Hold City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Testing.
Knowledge &
Experience
Experience of working with electrical control systems, PLC, and hardwired systems.
Experience with Siemens Step 7, WinCC & TIA Portal software packages to allow interrogation of the PMS/BMS program.
Good working knowledge of health and safety legislation.
Experience in an Electrical engineering disciplines.
Experience with recognised H&S Procedures.
DesireablePrevious experience of working in the Falkland Islands or working abroad in a MoD environment.
Previous experience of working in a Power Generation and Distribution environment.
Skills &
Abilities
Full clean valid car driving license for the Falkland Islands/UK/EU
Capable of working to and understanding drawings i.e. Installation, circuit diagrams and line schematics
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to understand and execute written and oral instructions and accurately relay instructions.
Must be capable of obtaining MoD basic security clearance.
