Department/Employer Operating Hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F How many hours per week are required? 10 Description of Primary Duties This position will begin at the start of the fall 2025 semester. The Advertising Sales Assistant plays a key role in supporting the financial sustainability and visibility of The Standard, the student-run news organization at Missouri State University. This position is responsible for communicating with off-campus businesses and organizations and on-campus departments to sell advertising across multiple platforms, including the print newspaper, the website, the email newsletters, and the on-campus newspaper kiosk posters.The assistant will reach out to advertisers by email and phone. The assistant will create advertising agreements and invoices, answer questions from advertisers, and occasionally run errands on- and off-campus. The assistant will perform other duties as assigned. The assistant will report to the faculty adviser, will work in the office without close supervision, and will collaborate with The Standard’s advertising designer. Specific work hours are flexible but must spread across the week (Monday through Friday) and must be during business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Required Qualifications The advertising sales assistant must be eligible for student employment at Missouri State University. The assistant must be experienced with basic computer applications. Required Certifications Additional Qualifications Previous work experience in an office setting is helpful. Previous experience in sales or customer-service, particularly experience in communicating by telephone, is helpful. Having a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle is preferred but not required.
