This is a Postdoctoral Scholar position to conduct research in the Drake, Fryer, Jacoby, and Nie lab. The Postdoc will work on projects characterizing abnormalities in the nerves controlling the airways in asthma. This position will require knowledge of cell biology and animal models of disease.

 

The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine provides expert diagnosis and care of patients with lung diseases in our Pulmonary Clinic, and of critically ill patients in our Intensive Care Unit. Our clinical interests include all areas of lung disease and critical illness. In addition to our commitment to outstanding clinical care, we are also proud of our research programs from basic science research to clinical trials. Function/Duties of Position Engage in experimental design, data collection, and data analysis while in the course of day to day lab duties; perform experiments including viral and allergen administration, airway physiology experiments, histology analysis, immunohistochemistry, small animal imaging, qPCR, and cell culture techniques, among others.Prepare results for publication and presentation, including background literature review & data analysis, at regular lab meetings, seminars, and conferences.Attend and present technical status reports at meetingsOther duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications PhD Preferred Qualifications PhD in Immunology, Physiology, Pharmacology, or NeuroscienceExperience with animal models of diseaseHandling and working with laboratory animalsStandard cell and molecular biology techniques (e.g., cell culture, RT-PCR) immunohistology, microscopy and imaging Additional Details

Monday-Friday 8 hour workday in a research lab setting. Schedule may vary depending on project requirements and may infrequently involve working during evenings/weekends. Busy work environment with strict deadlines, interruptions, multiple demands and people interactions.
