Postdoctoral Fellow - CNS - Rad Onc Research
Our CNS Radiation Oncology team specializes in treatment of all central nervous system tumors, both primary and metastatic. They work with neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, diagnostic neuro-radiologists, neuropathologists, radiation physicists and nurses who are experts in treating brain tumors and spinal tumors. The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow position is to support the Principal Investigator and collaborating faculty in advancing scientific research projects. This role is focused on academic research and discovery in a highly collaborative laboratory environment. An immediate opening is available for a postdoctoral researcher to investigate: (1) how extrachromosomal DNA (ecDNA) drives oncogene amplification and immune evasion; (2) the development of novel myeloid-directed immunotherapies to overcome these mechanisms; and (3) the evaluation of therapeutic combinations, including immunotherapy and radiation, in preclinical models of breast cancer, glioma, colorectal cancer, and sarcoma. The fellow will also have opportunities to collaborate closely with CNS-focused radiation oncologists to explore how these mechanisms contribute to brain metastasis and therapeutic resistance. *LEARNING OBJECTIVES* 1.) Perform technical laboratory duties, techniques, in vivo and in vitro experiments studying cancer biology and response to treatments including immunotherapy and/or radiotherapy. 2.) Projects may include in vitro and in vivo cytotoxicity and immune-profiling assays including single-cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics; small animal image-guided radiotherapy; tissue harvesting and microscopy; in vivo and ex vivo immunological assays; exosome isolation. Ideal candidates would possess experience in molecular biology, cell culture, animal handling, and bioinformatics. 3.) Training and supervising other research personnel on techniques and equipment procedures 4.) Maintenance of laboratory safety procedures and records and facilities 5.) Collect, analyze, plot data using appropriate software applications, store and record data on computer and lab notebooks 6.) Assist in writing of scientific papers for publication, grant applications and presentations at scientific meetings *ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS* EDUCATION Required: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate EXPERIENCE Required: Six years of experience in scientific or experimental research work Preferred: With preferred degree, four years of required experience *POSITION INFORMATION* MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a [salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000](https://trainees.mdanderson.org/apply/mdaPostdoctoralFellowStipendFY24.pdf). depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience.
