Our competitive compensation and benefit programs reflect Boehringer Ingelheim's high regard for our employees. **Duties & Responsibilities** You will be responsible for identifying and proposing solutions to complex biomanufacturing challenges that are of interest to Boehringer Ingelheim Fremont, Inc. Initial focus will be on the creation and implementation of downstream (DS) process models relevant to the Boehringer Ingelheim Fremont biomanufacturing facility, using mechanistic and hybrid modeling approaches. Another important part of your responsibility will be to obtain buy in and support from matrixed functions and leadership as well as to provide regular progress updates. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will have the opportunity to drive research of novel concepts in computational modeling & digitalization technologies, process science, biomanufacturing science, process analytical technologies, and other technological aspects of biomanufacturing. Additionally, you will have the opportunity and responsibility to collaborate with leading academic institutions as well as other industrial partners. You will be responsible for identifying and developing appropriate tools and methods as well as integrating and interpreting your data. **Requirements** + PhD degree in Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field with no more than 3 years of Postdoctoral experience. + Substantial downstream process modeling expertise using mechanistic, hybrid, and data-driven models. + Proficiency in at least one programming language. + Expertise in proposing innovative ideas to solve complex problems. + Ability to independently conduct research projects and effectively present results. + Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, proactive attitude, self-sufficiency, and ability to work in cross-functional teams. + Strong drive to learn new things. + Experience in searching and evaluating literature/patents. **Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities** + Experience with downstream bioprocess technology and methods. + Proven track record of conducting and publishing innovative research projects. + Experience in writing research proposals. + Broad scientific and technical knowledge with the ability to quickly become an expert in a specific topic. + Ability to think outside the box, enjoys brainstorming, and is comfortable with ambiguity. + Experience in adapting established technologies and methodologies to a different technical field. **Eligibility Requirements** + Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. + Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required) + Must be 18 years of age or older All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to a person’s actual or perceived race, including natural hairstyles, hair texture and protective hairstyles; color; creed; religion; national origin; age; ancestry; citizenship status, marital status; gender, gender identity or expression; sexual orientation, mental, physical or intellectual disability, veteran status; pregnancy, childbirth or related medical condition; genetic information (including the refusal to submit to genetic testing) or any other class or characteristic protected by applicable law.
