Postdoctoral Associate (InfoCogLab)

The InfoCogLab at NYU, directed by PI Noga Zaslavsky, is seeking to fill a Postdoctoral Associate position. We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc with strong computational skills and profound interest in understanding the fundamental principles that underlie human and artificial cognition. Research focus areas include, but are not limited to, any of the following:
⁃ Language learning and development in humans and AI
⁃ Multi-agent models and evolutionary dynamics of language and cognition
⁃ Integrative models of language, perception, and action
⁃ Pragmatic reasoning and theory of mind
The position will involve leading cutting-edge research projects at the intersection of cognitive science and AI, working closely with the PI and other lab members. The InfoCogLab is based in the Psychology Department at NYU and maintains an affiliation with NYU’s Center for Data Science. It provides a unique intellectual environment with many opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and professional development, as well as state-of-the-art research facilities and resources.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting July 25. Start date is flexible but ideally would be in fall 2025.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $62,500-$90,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
⁃ A PhD in computer science, cognitive science, neuroscience, linguistics, or related field by the start date is required.
⁃ Strong background in working with computational models (such as deep learning models and/or Bayesian models) and strong programing skills.
⁃ Demonstrated ability to lead research projects and work collaboratively.
Background in information theory, cognitive science, or web-based experiments is not required but would be an advantage
