**Required Qualifications** : (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Bionanoscience, or closely related field. Ability to demonstrate professional competence in relevant research activities related to molecular bioengineering and biotechnology. Specialized training and experience in operating equipment, carrying out test procedures, and using special methods for data collation and interpretation.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
Proficient in wetlab (cell culture, bench assays), dry lab (computational analysis), and one or more of: CRISPR, microfluidics, next-generation sequencing experiments, or developing diagnostic technologies. Proficient in scientific writing. History of academic productivity and excellence.
**Brief Description of Duties:**
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator Eric Josephs (https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=qsFOJjkAAAAJ&view\_op=list\_works&sortby=pubdate) in the department of Biomedical Engineering (https://www.stonybrook.edu/bme/) . The Josephs lab incorporates ideas and approaches from molecular bioengineering and molecular biophysics to address critical challenges related to DNA damage repair, genetic engineering, somatic genetic disease, and the emergence of antibiotic resistance. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
+ Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of bioengineering, molecular biotechnology, synthetic biology, and biomedical engineering.
+ Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
+ Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
+ Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
+ Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
**Special Notes:**
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
