Post Doctorate, Screening Parasitology
**Description** Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and creative Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our Discovery Screening team in the Parasitology Research department located in Athens, GA. Join a dynamic scientific team and contribute to developing and implementing novel approaches for the identification and profiling of chemical matter with antiparasitic activity. Work with diverse teams and experts globally and locally to collaborate on projects to advance new therapeutic and preventative concepts for companion and production animal parasite infection/infestation. Utilize your strong background in parasite _in vitro_ biology and pharmacology to enable the interrogation of compound collections via phenotypic screenings. Facilitate the selection and follow-up of screening hits, guide and enhance our ability to predict _in vivo_ outcomes. Post-Doctoral Fellows are expected to independently conduct research and publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Our competitive compensation and benefit programs reflect Boehringer Ingelheim's high regard for our employees. **Duties & Responsibilities** + Take full responsibility for one or several projects leading to the development and implementation of high throughput _in vitro_ screening assays that can augment or complement our antiparasitic discovery program. + Act as a member of the Discovery Screening Parasitology team and remain open and available to contribute to advancement of the Parasitology Research agenda by collaborating and providing solutions to scientific and/or operational challenges. + Plan and execute experiments with rigor and excellence to deliver high-quality data in support of your research project and any collaborative work. Define clear research questions and establish a path to address them through clear and controlled experimental designs. + Actively participate in team meetings with an open mind and eye for creative solutions across the portfolio of projects. + Work in a collaborative manner with the Screening Parasitology team, other parasitology subfunctions and functions within Global Innovation. Network within and outside of Parasitology Research, including with clinical and chemistry functions. + Be a proactive and teamwork-focused lab member. Work closely with colleagues to coordinate experiments based on priority and resources and contribute to a heathy lab environment. **Requirements** + PhD degree or equivalent in Parasitology, Entomology, Animal Science, Biological Science, or related field, with publications record. + Ability to work independently. + Ability to design and execute experimental strategy to advance projects. + Demonstrated creativity and novel approaches to solving scientific problems. + Excellent documentation, written, and oral communication skills. + Demonstrated creativity and initiative in driving cutting edge research. + Good knowledge of scientific area of responsibility. + Ability to ask critical scientific questions. + Ability to synthesize new hypotheses and critique devised hypotheses. + Experience with Python programming language, preferred **Desired Skills, Experience and Abilities** + Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. + Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required). + Must be 18 years of age or older.
