Portfolio Reporting Specialist (Mortgage Default Servicing) - Hybrid

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Portfolio Reporting Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring that M&T Bank accurately reports the status of mortgage loans in default—such as those in foreclosure or bankruptcy—to investors, agencies, and insurers. Your job is to make sure every loan is coded correctly and reflects its current status. This work is essential to maintaining compliance and avoiding costly penalties.  You’ll be reviewing large volumes of loan data daily (500–1000 loans), identifying inconsistencies, and solving problems when something doesn’t look right. While much of the work follows standard procedures, there’s also a significant amount of gray area that requires curiosity, critical thinking, and a knack for digging into the details.

Key Responsibilities

Review and validate default loan status reports for accuracy and completeness.

Analyze exceptions and correct errors to ensure compliance with investor requirements.

Communicate with investors, agencies, and insurers to resolve discrepancies.

Stay current on investor guidelines and system updates; adjust procedures as needed.

Participate in team projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Maintain internal control standards and support audit readiness.

Required Qualifications

At least 1 year of relevant work experience and a combination of 3+ years of education and/or experience.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Reporting experience.

Proficiency in Excel and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Ability to manage high volumes of data with accuracy.

Experience in mortgage servicing or financial reporting.

Familiarity with M&T Bank systems.

Working Model/Office Location

This is a hybrid position requiring two days in office per week.

Eligible candidates must live within commuting distance to 475 Crosspoint Parkway, Getzville, NY 14068.

Scheduled Shift/Required Availability

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $18.57 - $30.95 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
