About The Role The Portfolio Manager (PM) will be responsible for the ongoing management of an assigned portfolio of commercial loans ranging in size up to $1,000,000. The subject portfolio will generally be granular in nature, however larger relationships may be added depending on overall capacity and job performance. The PM will play a vital part in the commercial lending process, offering continued relationship management to the banking client’s total relationship to the bank, and enhancing the client experience by serving as an additional “primary” point of contact. The PM will have strong financial analysis, communication, and business acumen. Their primary duties will span the entire lending process at times, including proactively managing portfolio loan requirements (i.e., financial statement requirements, performance covenant measurements, Annual Loan Reviews, etc.) to presenting self-prepared credit authorizations for approval to applicable authority levels. As a primary point of contact, the PM may support a client’s depository and other banking needs by collaborating with other bank departments. Due to the cross functional aspects of this position, the PM will directly report to Credit Administration but will be closely tied to the activities of Commercial Lending and will have routine communication with the Chief Lending Officer and other members of the Commercial Lending Team. Major Duties and Responsibilites: Manages an assigned portfolio of credits, anticipating new opportunities, upcoming maturities, periodic reviews, and potential problems. Responsible for the ongoing management of the portfolio, including developing a relationship with each client relationship. May independently take a credit request from application to close, however there will be no expectation for production for this position. Manages the collection of required financial statements, etc. for loans within respective portfolio. Spreads and/or analyzes financial statements and tax returns of potential and existing customers using appropriate tools and credit criteria. Prepares credit authorizations, supporting documents and loan information sheets for new and existing accounts. Serves a primary point of contact for loan operations during preparation of collateral and loan documentation. Prepares spreads and/or analyze financial statements of potential and existing customers utilizing the bank’s accepted analytical credit criteria. Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of loan applications and supporting documents and loan information sheets for new and existing accounts. Prepare credit authorizations and present to appropriate approval authority. Establish communication and working relationships with clients in the assigned portfolio within 180 days of assignment. Actively manage past due payments by communicating with portfolio clients and reporting reasons for delinquency to credit administration if necessary. Address maturing loans in a timely manner with all loans requiring never exceeding 10 days past due. Maintain financial statement requirements for portfolio clients with less than 10% delinquency in collection. Complete Annual Loan Reviews, Problem Loan Reports, performance covenant measurements, and other necessary portfolio reporting items on time. Maintain appropriate risk ratings on all portfolio loans with no double (two-grade) downgrades recommended by regulator, auditor, QC, or other parties. Maintains extensive knowledge of lending policies, procedures, and practices of the bank. Conducts credit investigations when necessary. Monitoring customer accounts and loan portfolios to detect changes that might affect their credit standing. Performs annual term loan reviews. Monitor compliance with loan agreement covenants. About You Qualifications: Two to four years of similar or related experience to include preparatory experience. A Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field is required. Must possess current, valid driver’s license. Knowledge, Skills, Abilites: Knowledge of banking compliance regulations and guidelines related to area of responsibility. Working knowledge of standard office equipment. Skills in areas related to computer operation/use including working knowledge of Microsoft applications and ability to learn new systems/applications, Communicate Effectively: both verbally and in writing with others in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
