37.5 hrs pw 5/7 various shifts on a set rota 06.00-14.00, 14.00-22.00, 22.00-06.00 these shifts are over a 7 day period£12.59 per hour +enhancements £17.00 sat and out of hours £21.28 sun

Holidays 27 days pro rataLocation is North Devon District Hospitalmust have driving license for short staff or sickness driving cover

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with supervisory experience in facilities, healthcare, or support services to step into a leadership role where you’ll help shape and manage a high-quality portering service.

You’ll play a key part in ensuring patients, materials, and equipment are safely and efficiently transferred around the hospital—helping us to deliver an exceptional service that keeps the hospital running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

Lead and supervise a team of Porters, ensuring resources are deployed effectively to meet service demands

Support your team with training, performance reviews, and ongoing development

Manage workload schedules while responding to urgent requests in a calm, efficient manner

Maintain safety and compliance standards in line with Sodexo and NHS Trust policies

Build positive relationships with colleagues, hospital staff, and visitors to deliver a professional, caring service

Champion a Zero Harm mindset, ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of your team at all time

What You’ll Bring

Previous experience in a facilities, healthcare, or support services environment

Competent IT skills - Microsoft word and excel formulas, spreadhsheets

Strong team leadership and people management skills

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels

Good knowledge of health and safety practices and willingness to undertake further training

Organised, proactive, and able to remain calm under pressure

A genuine commitment to delivering excellent patient and visitor care
