About the role

NPL is seeking a competent and experienced Manager, Community & Social Responsibilities to lead our community relations efforts. This role is to lead the Community Social Responsibilities Department (CSR), and reports to onsite Sustainability Management. The person will initiate strategies and develop plans and implement them to ensure harmonious relationships with local communities and working together with them for a long team mutual success.  

In this role, you will:

•    Lead the development and execution of Community and Social Responsibility strategies aligned with NPL’s business objectives.

•    Drive operational discipline through the implementation of structured systems, procedures, and standards across all CSR activities.

•    Establish baselines, KPIs, and performance targets for CSR programs; monitor progress and ensure continuous improvement.

•    Develop and manage the CSR Department’s operational and capital budgets; track expenditure, investigate variances, and report regularly to the Sustainability Lead.

•    Manage the Social Performance Committee and other governance forums to ensure effective oversight of CSR activities and stakeholder engagement.

•    Provide strategic leadership across four key functions, including stakeholder engagement, land access, grievance management, and community development.

•    Lead social aspects of mine closure planning and implementation, ensuring community considerations are fully integrated.

•    Oversee project design, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of community initiatives.

•    Manage the CSR human resources, ensuring clear role definitions, performance management, and professional development.

•    Foster a high-performance team culture focused on accountability, results, and respect.

•    Promote and uphold health, safety, and environmental standards in all aspects of CSR operations.

•    Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments and external partners, ensuring transparent communication and collaborative problem-solving.

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:

•    A bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Relations, or a related field.

•    At least 10 years of senior experience in community relations or stakeholder engagement, including leadership of multidisciplinary teams.

•    Proven track record in operational discipline, process improvement, performance management, and achieving defined KPIs within complex organizational settings.

•    Experience establishing baselines, setting measurable targets, and using data-driven approaches to monitor CSR outcomes.

•    Demonstrated ability to manage governance committees, working groups, and cross-functional teams.

•    Expertise in key sectors such as community relations, engagement, government relations, education, business development, land management, grievance handling, and mine closure planning.

•    Strong project management skills, including project design, budgeting, scheduling, monitoring, and evaluation.

•    Excellent leadership skills with experience managing human resources, including performance management, training, and team development.

•    Proficiency in MS Office and integrated management systems.

•    High-level report writing and communication skills suitable for diverse stakeholders.

•    Strong negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills in sensitive environments.
