**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Night Shift **Description:** **POLYSOM TECH I** **BOISE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER** **SUMMARY:** Performs the basics of polysomnographic testing and associated interventions under the direct supervision of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist. **REQUIREMENTS:** + Must be enrolled in an Accredited Sleep technologist S.T.A.R program through the AASM, or RRT or RPSGT. + Registry in Polysomnography, Respiratory Care or EEG required within 3 years of hire. + Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required. (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS) + Certified or registered as a Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT or RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) preferred. + Two years of healthcare experience preferred. + Audio-visual experience preferred. **WHAT YOU WILL DO:** + Follows procedural protocols (e.g., Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP and oxygen titration) to ensure collection of appropriate data. + Revenue management: ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients. + Follows “lights out” procedures to establish and document baseline value (e.g., body position, oxyhemoglobin saturation, respiratory and heart rates). + Performs polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identifies and reports signal abnormalities. + Documents routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results. + Assists with appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.) + Follows “lights on” procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (e.g., repeats the physiological and instrument calibrations and instruct the patient on completing questionnaires). + Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. + Completes visit notify, task entry and task completion in powerchart. **Our Commitment** Rooted in our Mission and Core Values, we honor the dignity of every person and recognize the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each colleague brings.
