Overall Job Purpose:
The Policy, Advocacy and Government Affairs Manager is responsible for delivering strategies that optimise the policy and broader external environment for Lilly, directly supporting Lilly’s business priorities and delivering access and growth for Lilly’s innovative medicines in Australia and New Zealand. You will build and maintain strong relationships and influence with Federal and State governments, develop effective policy positions and proposals, and work with stakeholders to advocate for change in policy and practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute environment shaping strategies to achieve change in policy and practice, and support medicines access and reimbursement across Lilly’s key portfolios, including neuroscience, cardiometabolic health and broader system reform.Oversee a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders including Federal & State ministerial advisors, parliamentarians, health departments and central agencies, coalitions, academics, key clinicians and patient advocacy groups.Monitor of the external political and policy environment to identify and evaluate potential issues and opportunities for Lilly including recommendations to capitalise and/or mitigate Develop policy positions, submissions and other policy materials on key issues of importance to Lilly ANZ, such as medicines access, international trade and therapeutic areas.Commission research and other expertise to inform policy shaping and advocacy initiatives.Represent Lilly's positions effectively and clearly in external meetings, industry associations and working groups.Manage government relations and other external agencies, internal reporting and CRM systems. Operate with full understanding and adherence to the highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, including but not limited to Medicines Australia Code of Conduct and Lilly policies.Essential Skills and Attributes:
Qualifications and experience:
Relevant degree such as public policy, public health, economics or similar fieldDeep understanding of, and expertise in, the Australian health system and government, ideally with an understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and medicines reimbursement5+ years' experience in policy / government / health systems, with a track record in executing impactful advocacy and environment shaping strategiesProven experience in managing teams, overseeing projects, and/or leading development of strategic initiatives with measurable outcomes.Demonstrated ability to influence and work with cross-functional teams to drive results, including interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders and ability to engage effectively with medical and commercial teams.An interest in neuroscience, cardiometabolic health, health equity and/or system reform.Experience building effective advocacy coalitions or partnerships in a health system context, across public and private sectors, would be highly regarded.Personal attributes:
