Summary The West Texas VA Health Care System, Big Spring, Texas is currently seeking a Podiatrist (Deputy Chief of Staff-Specialty Care-CLC Services) as a member of senior executive leadership team, involved in strategic planning, organizational and program development of services. Responsibilities The Deputy Chief of Staff (Specialty Care-CLC) is clinically and fiscally responsible for the delivery of timely, ethical, compassionate, efficient, quality, and safe care to Veteran patients. The Deputy Chief of Staff will have oversight and directly supervise Dental, Diagnostic (Radiology and Cardiopulmonary),Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service, Pharmacy, Ophthalmology/Optometry and Specialty providers within these Services.T The Deputy Chief of Staff will coordinate specialty services provided through VISN and National CRH. the DCOS will serve as Community Living Center (CLC) Medical Director and have clinical oversight of Nurse Practitioners assigned to CLC. This position is divided equally between clinical and administrative duties, with 50% of the time dedicated to administrative responsibilities and 50% to clinical care. The Deputy Chief of Staff for Specialty Care and Community Living Center (CLC) Medical Director is responsible for the comprehensive oversight and operation of specialty care services within the VA, as well as the coordination of theses through community care. Additionally, the roles includes duties as Designated Medical Review Officer and Site Director for the Texas Tech Internal Medicine Resident Training Program. Qualifications Basic Requirements: Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Approved schools are United States schools of podiatric medicine approved by the Council on Podiatry Education of the American Podiatry Association in the year in which the degree was granted. ~AND~ Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Podiatrists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
