Your typical day as a Platform Engineer may look like: * Leverage contemporary hybrid cloud skills (e.g., AI, analytics, DevOps, DevSecOps, IaC, automation, security, networking, and storage) with deep industry expertise and an understanding of your clients’ businesses. * Define and communicate the unique value of IBM’s technology, both technically and commercially. * Participate in client sessions that include a range of public and hybrid cloud technologies, such as Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Cloud Paks, and Kubernetes. * Support the solutions architecture plan and be a hands-on "builder" during client-facing engagements. * Advice on solution architecture to align with platform best practices, with a focus on our clients target environment to ease transition to deployment. * Work with deployment teams to transition platform assets and information to provide seamless transitions for our clients. **Required technical and professional expertise** • Hands-on experience with a wide range of cloud and AI technologies. • Practical knowledge and direct experience with virtualized on-premise and cloud-based computing platforms. • Experience in building application and infrastructure deployment automation workflows. • Proven track record in participating in customer-facing technical solutions teams across various cloud architectures. • Technical experience in a cloud-related domain such as Data/Analytics, Data Science, Security, or other cloud-native, hybrid, or public-cloud technology. • Understanding and practical application of Agile best practices. • Proficient in at least one common cloud native programming language (Java, Python, HCL, Rust, Ansible, etc.) **Preferred technical and professional experience** * At least 1 year in a technical operations role, such as site reliability or platform engineering, in hybrid-cloud and on-premise environments. * Experience in deploying and operating solutions on AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or Google Cloud. * Experience as a Solution Architect or in a public cloud consultant role. * Experience in developing collaborative client relationships at all levels within organizations. * Knowledge of Well-Architected Frameworks from AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or Google Cloud. * Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CNCF, AWS, IBM Cloud, Azure, Google Cloud, DevOps). * Experience working in dynamic team environments and cross-functionally with teams such as Product Management, Engineering, and Customer Success.
