Plant Manager - Epernon (France)

Job Summary

This position will manage manufacturing operations with high food safety standards. It will be responsible for environmental, safety, food quality/safety, security, quality control, local warehousing and shipping. Ensures continuous and efficient production in desired quantity, food quality, and product quality, cost effective maintenance, and appropriate technological support. Set expectations and work environment standards necessary for successful operation. Ensures appropriate personnel planning, staffing, and performance management. Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, safety and food safety standards and country regulation, authorizations and permits. Interacts with the community to maintain the right to operate. Manage social relationships with employee representatives and unions. This position will report to the Cultures and Food Enzymes Manufacturing Director.

The responsibilities for the Plant Manager position will include but are not limited to:

Safety, Health, Environmental, Food Quality and Safety & Core ValuesEstablishes managing processes for advancing and ensuring consistency of Core Values (SHE/PSM, Ethics & Respect for People) across the site.Ensures regulatory compliance across all core values including food safety (site compliant with Danone quality standards).Leads identification and prioritization of risk reduction opportunities, establishes clear priorities and supports effective resourcing to drive improvement at the site. (SHE/PSM, Site security)Leads relationship with local authorities including safety, food safety, health regulatory agency, customs, police.Ensures follow up and consistency of food safety plan (HACCP, pre-requisites)Maintains positive community relations through active participation in local organizationsAccountable for leading and managing the site’s Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Quality and Food Safety Management Systems (ISO14001; OHSAS 18001, ISO9001 & FSSC 22000).

Legal role & representation to local authorities

Operations Strategy & PlanningCommunication of business objectives, priorities and progress across the siteCommunication within IFF off-site and above siteDevelops, implements and renews a 3-5-year site strategic plan, including a clear site vision, which supports the business and corporate strategy.Leads site staff team in identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and aligning action plans with business strategy and anticipating future needs.

ProductivityAccountable for advancing Lean culture of continuous improvement (visual management, people, environment, site vision, M&B, empowerment, accountability, visual controls, performance dialog, structured problem solving.Accountable for meeting business objectives for production delivery, quality and cost.Responsible for site infrastructure capabilities, improvement and resource plans via evergreen 5-year plan.Utilizes performance tracking metrics to drive execution.

Social relationshipManage social relation with Unions on site (several unions on site including global legal entity representatives)Negotiate local collective agreements with UnionsLead legal monthly meetings with employee representative organizations)Ensure and preserve a trustful and good social climate

Morale, Talent Management & Capability Building Develop people at the site (feedback, coaching, mentoring, delegation, difficult conversations, capability building)Encourages employee’s engagement and fosters empowerment and ownership through leader standard work practices.Establishes and ensures the effectiveness of two-way communication processes across the site.Manages staffing strategy (core/ variable, overtime management and labor planning)Provides strategy and ensures effectiveness of the reward and recognition system across the plantStrategically guides employee and labor relations including working with site’s third-party representation.Utilizes talent management processes and systems (succession planning, top talent, Individual Performance Plan)Skills in team management

Qualifications

Must have manufacturing experience preferred in a food or industrial biotechnology operationsStrong leadership and change management skills with high attention and track record on people safety. Ethics, agility, accountability, transparency, talent development. Experience supervising people.Manufacturing experience which includes exposure to SHE, Quality, Food safety, Maintenance and Continuous Improvement systems and tools. Experience in managing social relationships.Food Safety/Quality experience preferred

Language: French, English

To be qualified for this role, candidate must possess the following:

M.Sc. degree in biochemical and/ or chemical engineering with experience in either industrial biochemistry (fermentation and recovery), pharma or food additives
