Description
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Plant Controller to join our team in Salt Lake City. As a key strategic partner, the Plant Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting and financial functions of the plant, ensuring compliance with GAAP, optimizing cost accounting procedures, and driving financial analysis to support operational decision-making. The ideal candidate will be experienced in overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, including AP, AR, account reconciliations, and fixed assets.
This position is hybrid, allowing for a mix of onsite and remote work flexibility. The candidate will also utilize NetSuite ERP for accounting processes, reporting, and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting:
Manage and oversee cost accounting functions, including standard cost updates, variance analysis, and product costing.
Prepare and analyze cost reports to support operational performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Financial Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements aligned with GAAP standards.
Establish strong internal control systems to comply with corporate policies and regulatory standards.
Assist with both internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and analyses.
Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR):
Supervise AP and AR operations to ensure smooth processing, timeliness, and accuracy.
Monitor cash flow and coordinate with business partners to improve collections and payment cycles.
Account Reconciliations & Fixed Assets:
Perform account reconciliations to maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial records.
Manage fixed assets and related processes, including depreciation schedules, additions, and disposals.
Policies and Procedures:
Develop and enforce finance and accounting policies and procedures to support efficient plant operations.
Drive process improvements and implement best practices to enhance financial performance and reporting.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, profitability reviews, forecasting, and budgeting.
Provide actionable recommendations to support operational leaders in meeting business objectives.
ERP System: Leverage NetSuite ERP for all financial activities, including cost management, reporting, and tracking. A strong understanding and experience with NetSuite functionalities is critical to success in this role.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) are preferred but not required.
+ Previous experience in public auditing or public accounting is preferred.
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
+ Experience: 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or plant environment.
+ Expertise in cost accounting, GAAP compliance, account reconciliations, and fixed asset management.
+ Strong background in NetSuite ERP or similar cloud-based enterprise systems.
+ Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
+ Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multi-functional teams.
