Plant Controller
Description We are looking for an experienced Plant Controller to manage financial operations and enhance efficiency at our manufacturing facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this role, you will oversee financial reporting, cost analysis, and inventory management while collaborating with operational teams to drive accountability and strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has a strong background in manufacturing finance and is skilled in cost accounting, variance analysis, and financial leadership. Responsibilities: • Oversee comprehensive financial reporting activities, including preparing monthly financial statements, reconciling accounts, and managing journal entries. • Analyze budget-to-actual performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions to leadership. • Maintain and refine standard cost models, including labor rates, overhead allocations, and product costing. • Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to implement cost controls and enhance efficiency. • Manage inventory accounting processes, including valuation, reconciliations, and cycle counts to ensure accuracy. • Ensure data integrity within financial systems, maintaining master data and overseeing transaction accuracy. • Develop dashboards and performance reports to provide actionable insights for operational and strategic planning. • Support plant-level cash flow forecasting, working capital analysis, and liquidity management. • Act as a key liaison during audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and financial controls. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • At least 5 years of progressive financial experience in a manufacturing environment, with expertise in cost accounting and financial reporting. • Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, cost centers, and product costing systems. • Demonstrated proficiency in month-end close processes and presenting financial results to stakeholders. • Hands-on experience with cash flow analysis, budgeting, and working capital management. • Advanced skills in Excel and financial data analysis, including dashboard creation and modeling. • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities. • Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is highly desirable.
