Scheduler – Distribution

Full Time: Eastern (Paeroa, Matamata or Tauranga) Central Power-Co Tier 1 Contract
Reporting to: Regional Manager

The Opportunity

Join Downer Energy NZ’s high-performing project delivery team as a Scheduler, where you’ll play a pivotal role in optimising resource allocation and coordinating planned and unplanned works across essential infrastructure projects. This full-time, site-based position supports the North West and East-Central networks, ensuring efficient delivery for one of New Zealand’s key energy clients . You'll work closely with Regional Managers, Supervisors, and Project Managers to ensure schedules are achievable, well-communicated, and adapted in real-time to meet operational and client demands.

This role is vital to minimising downtime, reducing project costs, and enabling the delivery of reliable power to communities.

What You’ll Do

Develop and manage schedules that balance workforce, plant, subcontractor, and outage availability. Coordinate and lead internal planning meetings and contribute to client-facing scheduling sessions. Track and adapt schedules based on leave, training, weather, or outage changes. Upload, update, and communicate job plans and documentation with internal and external stakeholders. Monitor job performance, support project teams, and report on utilisation and schedule variances.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Scheduler who thrives in a dynamic utility or construction environment. You will bring:

Proven experience in scheduling/planning, ideally in utilities or infrastructure. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel); experience with Helios is a plus. A sharp eye for detail, the ability to adapt quickly to change, and a drive for process improvement. A team mindset and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
