The Planner-Buyer will be responsible for efficiently and cost effectively purchasing direct and indirect materials in alignment with defined key performance indicators. In addition, this role oversees the purchase order lifecycle and manages the expediting of parts as required. The Planner-Buyer will maintain and develop a strong working relationship with suppliers. This role is part of the KION North America (KNA) Supply Chain department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Utilize MRP system to communicate risks and opportunities with Demand SchedulingRelease and monitor purchase orders, analyze for quantity, specifications and delivery requirementsMaintain part master so that MRP is utilized effectivelyAdvise Supply Chain leadership team of market conditions and supplier activity which could affect pricing, quality and deliveryMeet inventory and cost reduction goalsProcess Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and notify suppliers with revised drawings, act as liaison between Engineering and the supplier.Responsible for working with transportation partners and suppliers to expedite materialsFollow-up on past due orders and acknowledgement reportsEnsure timely closure on open supplier issues related to quality and return goods authorizationsCross-train in other areas within Supply Chain to provide backup for other members of the department.

BS/BA in supply chain management, business, engineering or equivalent3-5 years of demand scheduling or materials planning experience, ideally in industrial equipment manufacturing or automotiveExcellent project management, communication and organizational skillsProficient decision making and analytical problem-solving skillsUnderstanding of engineering, quality, and manufacturing processes

Excellent skills with MS Office; SAP knowledge and MS Project preferred
