Summary

Planned Giving Marketing and Stewardship Specialist

Position Highlights:

The Planned Giving Marketing and Stewardship Specialist is responsible for marketing content, design, and production of a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote planned giving opportunities that support the Moffitt Foundation. This role focuses on generating interest in gift vehicles such as Charitable Gift Annuities, Bequests, Retirement Assets, and others, while also enhancing donor engagement through stewardship of Moffitt Legacy Society members. The Specialist supports the Director of Planned Giving and the broader planned giving team by coordinating marketing initiatives, personalized outreach, and stewardship efforts in collaboration with the donor relations team. This position also serves as a key liaison with internal teams—including Prospect Research, Stewardship, and Special Events—to ensure seamless integration of planned giving priorities. Handling sensitive and confidential donor and patient information, the Specialist must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, organization, and initiative, operating independently in a fast-paced environment to manage multiple projects and support departmental goals.

 

Select Responsibilities:

Planned Giving Marketing: Responsible for marketing content, design, and production of the Planned Giving marketing, including all direct mail and digital marketing efforts. Work with the Director of Planned Giving in the development and execution of a marketing and communications plan to increase awareness of giving options (including IRA/Qualified Charitable Donations, securities, real estate, charitable gift annuities, etc.), leading to increased annual giving and deferred future gifts.

 

Stewardship: Manage the stewardship of legacy society members through personalized correspondence such as emails, phone calls, and letters. Serve as team lead for Legacy Society events. Responds to planned giving inquiries. Administers ongoing stewardship activities for the Legacy Society, including birthday cards and other mailings, event invitations, and other personalized communications and stewardship initiatives.

 

Tracking and Analysis: Document, analyze and report on marketing initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the program. Track legacy society members and other key planned giving metrics in coordination with the Planned Giving Bequest Specialist.

 

Administrative: First line point of contact for gift planning department calls and requests and refers to the correct planned giving officer. Prepares letters, reports, documents, and confidential correspondence for the planned gift development officers.

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree within Philanthropy, Marketing, Business, or another relevant field. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in planned giving, fundraising, marketing or a related field involving donor engagement and stewardship. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, two (2) additional years of experience as stated above will be considered.   Proficient in PC-based environments with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software applications, particularly in database and donor management systems. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and intermediate proficiency in Excel are required. Familiarity with legal documents and estate planning processes is essential, with strong attention to detail for accurate execution. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to work competently and efficiently in a multi-task environment with set deadlines. Must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Outstanding knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation required. Must possess the ability to compose, proofread, and edit high-level correspondence.

Preferred:

Experience working with confidential data and/or legal documents preferred. Legal, financial planning or estate administration Experience working with confidential data and legal documentation. Familiarity with donor management systems such as Raiser's Edge.
