Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Piping Engineer to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Katowice, Poland.

Summary 

The Piping Engineer is responsible for regulatory code compliance and quality of  piping engineering deliverables. The Piping Engineer resolves piping technical issues and provides guidance to other piping practitioners as well as supervising and coordinating piping engineering tasks. 

 

As the successful candidate, you will:

Ensure that all work designed or supplied by the piping engineering discipline complies with the relevant sections of mandatory health and safety standards, including any pressure piping regulation or code referred to within the required jurisdiction for the project with due consideration of relevant client engineering standards  Prepare and approve design calculations Prepare a list of engineering deliverables and time based functions to facilitate the planning and control of the engineering budget  Manage and review the piping engineering work packages associated with all deliverables and time based functions to ensure that budgets and schedules are being met and take corrective action if necessary  Prepare, review and approve piping technical deliverables  Assist in the preparation and development of project specific procedures  Manage piping system requirements to achieve the project results and monitor  effectiveness  Facilitate piping discipline engineering meetings  Ensure coordination between the piping team and other disciplines of all activities being  performed as the design evolves  Ensure that quality audits of engineering work are carried out in accordance with project/Hatch procedures and maintain technical documentation  Participate in HAZOP reviews  Provide input to proposal and man-hour estimates  Train and mentor junior and intermediate engineers and designers and provide guidance on Hatch standards and quality requirements  Ensure resolution of piping issues during project lifecycle, including planning phase, design, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning  Promote and maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of piping engineering work  Adhere to and promote the Hatch corporate safety culture. 

 

 

You bring to the role:

Essential 

Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent  Minimum eight years piping engineering experience with a minimum seven years project engineering experience or equivalent relevant experience  Strong technical skills  Ability to motivate individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives  Strong deliverable focus, ability to plan and delegate work  A high degree of understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies related to the discipline Good understanding of procurement, contracting and commissioning methodologies  Good understanding of systems and workflows as they relate to the piping discipline  Thorough understanding of the Hatch Health, Safety, Environment and Community  (HSEC) policy and standards  Sound knowledge of piping codes and standards applicable to the project  Sound technical knowledge of piping engineering, including specifications, calculations  
P&ID development, line sizing, material selection, isolation requirements, valve selection  and requisitioning of piping components  Familiarity with the requirements and application of pipe stress analysis  Knowledge of advanced piping systems  Well developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills  Site experience in a piping technical role  Experience in the technical review of vendor drawings and supplier data.  Intermediate Level of English or above

 

Preferred 

Experience working on large projects in a multidisciplinary environment  Extensive knowledge of 3D data centric design systems  Good knowledge of Hatch engineering management systems  Strong ability to delegate tasks and promote the effective performance of team members  Experience in mentoring engineers and designers  Extensive experience in the use of procedures and workflows in the execution of projects Strong client focus  Good leadership skills.
