Pipeline Scheduler (Hybrid)

Kinder Morgan is the largest independent transporter of petroleum products in North America, transporting approximately 2.4 million barrels per day. The great majority of these products are transported through our Products Pipelines business, which moves gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, natural gas liquids and condensate through about 9,500 miles of pipelines. We also have approximately 65 liquids terminals in this business segment that store fuels and offer blending services for ethanol and biofuels.

The Pipeline Scheduler position will act as the primary contact between customers shipping on Kinder Morgan’s products pipelines and Control Center operations. It is responsible for monitoring and controlling shipper inventories, coordinating batch movements throughout the system and creating receipt and delivery schedules.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Correspond daily with shippers regarding schedules or other related issuesCreate receipt and delivery schedules based on nominationsProvide daily pumping orders to Pipeline ControllersCoordinate necessary changes to set-points, flow paths, volumes, tank transfers, etc. with the pipeline control center and field personnelTrack daily product movements and prepare tracking reportsMaintain a daily understanding of the lease and truck volumes receiving on pipelines and trucksMaintain a daily understanding of inventory positionManage pipeline inventories as needed to balance overages/shortagesOversee inventory levels for containment issues or for outagesPrepare monthly shipper statements and inventory trackingOther related duties as assigned

*Job level will be commensurate with knowledge and experience.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

Minimum 1-3 years experience in the pipeline industry as a Controller, field operations or pipeline scheduling/inventory managementGeneral knowledge of pipeline operations and procedures, gathering systems, and product movement, product pumping and delivery schedules, modes and methods; pipeline hydraulics and product specifications.

Competencies, skills, and abilities:

Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.Well-balanced interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communications skills are required.Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential.Must be a problem solver with the ability to find resolutions.Remain calm and professional during emergencies and formulate a course of action expeditiously.Identify, analyze and resolve a wide range of operational problems involving pipeline activities.Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision and/or direction.Independently plan and organize assigned work, inclusive of meeting all deadlines.Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with co-workers, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies.

Working Conditions:

Position subject to 24-hour call-out, including nights, weekends, and holidays.Individual will be required to carry a company cell phone and have computer access so that they are able to support operations 24-hour per day in case of emergencies.Extended work hours may be required in cases of emergencies or periods of high demand.Job requires constant phone activity and computer work.Extended periods of sitting may be required.Majority of the work will be conducted from an office environment.May be required to work alone (unsupervised); independent judgment is required when consultation with supervisor is not possible. Must schedule and monitor own work.
