Hands-on experience with advanced characterization techniques for electronic devices. Ability to develop a fundamental understanding of device behavior through experimental characterization. Strong foundation in semiconductor optoelectronics at the device level, including semiconductor lasers, optical amplifiers, and attenuators. Basic understanding of passive optical fundamentals, including waveguide modes, polarization, coherence, and interference. Strong software development skills for test automation and data analysis. Experience with data base tools like JMP, SQL is a plus. Ability to successfully execute experiments in both an R&D and Manufacturing environment. Ability to work within a team environment is essential; results and schedules must be clearly and concisely communicated to other groups.Education / Experience
MS or BS with 2+ years of experience, major in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or Applied Physics
Define and implement characterization methodologies for photonic integrated circuit devices using fundamental and advanced measurement techniques.
Own schedules and milestones for test development projects and drive projects to conclusion. Implement solutions to adapt existing test hardware and software to rapid changes in device design and measurement requirements. Provide development-phase experimental device data which can guide design improvements and provide better understanding of device behavior. Analyze wafer test data from production tests and drive improvements in test capability, test capacity, and tool reliability.
